"What did I get myself into?" That's all I was thinking when I was curled up in a ball on the floor after the 6th test in the Insanity workout fitness test. I was also thinking, "I wonder if I'm going to die?" and "I've never done anything this hard before." This was just the fitness test!
I've played sports all my life - Basketball and Tennis were my favorites. Going through high school I was in pretty good shape. Once I graduated and started going to college, I still actively played basketball or tennis a few times a week or went to the gym.
Now, I just turned 35, am married to my beautiful wife, and have two beautiful girls aged 5 and 3. I'm not in the best shape. Let's say, I'm in the worst shape of my life and this was a wake-up call of how bad it really is.
My Stats on Day 1:
I'm 5'11" (on a good day) and 208lbs. and 36" waist.
I'm hoping that by posting my experiences through this that it will help keep me motivated, but may also motivate someone else in a similar situation. The biggest barrier in completing the next 59 days is not physical - it is mental.
I think that it is crucial that you do this with someone else. Luckily for me, my wife, Jenn, is doing this workout with me. We know that at times, we will need to motivate each other to compete the 60 days.
Day 1 is complete. I survived and am wondering what Day 2 will bring, probably more of the same. I know there is a reason they call it Insanity. Tomorrow I'm just hoping that I don't end up on the floor.
